Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Saturday joined eminent personalities in Zaria, Kaduna State, to witness the turbanning of his former Vice President, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo (GCON), as the Sardaunan Zazzau.
The colourful ceremony, held at the Emir’s Palace, was officiated by His Royal Highness, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, the Emir of Zazzau, and drew the attendance of top political leaders, traditional rulers, and other distinguished Nigerians from across the country.
Dr. Jonathan, who served alongside Sambo between 2010 and 2015, described the conferment as well-deserved, commending his former deputy for his dedication to peace, unity, and national development.
In his goodwill message, the former President congratulated Sambo, saying:
“May this new role further deepen your bond with your people and your steadfast dedication to the peace, progress, and development of our country.”
The event highlighted the high regard in which the former Vice President is held for his service, humility, and contributions to national growth, as dignitaries and residents of Zazzau celebrated the new Sardaunan Zazzau in grand style.
