The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully rescued ten people, including three children, who were abducted by bandits in Kagarko Local Government Area since May 2025.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the victims — who were taken from Kushe Makaranta village — had been held captive in a forest near Rijana community by heavily armed bandits.

According to Hassan, the victims were freed on October 7, 2025, after a joint rescue operation involving personnel from the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigerian military. The sustained pressure from the combined team forced the abductors to abandon their hostages and flee the area.

The rescued victims were identified as Helen Abraham, Rosemary Elisha, Jummai Istifanus, Hauwa’u Sule, Mary Sunday, Kelvin Abraham, Devine Elisha, Jeremiah Istifanus, Christabeth Abraham, and Hauwa Sulaiman — all residents of Kushe Makaranta.

Following their rescue, the victims were taken to the Police Clinic for medical attention. After two days of treatment and observation, they were discharged and reunited with their families.

Commending the operatives for their courage and professionalism, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.

He pledged that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, would sustain ongoing efforts to eradicate banditry and restore peace to all affected communities in Kaduna State.
