The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV) on Saturday, October 11, 2025, organized an empowerment programme in Abuja to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child, gathering young girls, community leaders, and key stakeholders to advocate for the protection, empowerment, and education of the girl child across Nigeria.

The event emphasized the importance of nurturing a society where girls can grow and excel without fear of discrimination, violence, or neglect. Speakers at the event highlighted that empowering girls through education and mentorship remains essential to building a safer and more prosperous nation.

In his remarks, the National Coordinator of POCACOV reaffirmed the initiative’s commitment to promoting gender equality, skill acquisition, and leadership development among girls. He stressed that the empowerment of the girl child contributes significantly to reducing crime and fostering peace within communities.

The programme also featured interactive sessions, vocational training, and mentorship engagements, encouraging participants to embrace self-development and leadership.

Participants expressed appreciation to POCACOV and the Nigeria Police Force for their continued support and advocacy toward protecting the rights and welfare of girls nationwide.

The event aligned with the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child theme — focusing on empowerment, equality, and education as vital tools for building an inclusive society where every girl can realize her full potential.
