The Edo State Government, through the Ministry of Youth Affairs, has sought the collaboration of the Department of State Services (DSS) to address security concerns affecting youths across the State, in line with the directive of Governor Sen. Monday Okpebholo.

The Commissioner for Youth Affairs, Hon. Charity Amayaenvbo, made the call during a courtesy visit to the Edo State Director of the DSS, Mr. Isaac Ikechukwu Chikere. The visit aimed to strengthen partnership and explore avenues for joint efforts in youth-related security matters.

Commending the professionalism of the DSS Director and his team, Hon. Amayaenvbo highlighted the importance of the Service’s participation in the Ministry’s upcoming Youth Security Summit—a town hall-style engagement scheduled for November 2025. The event will feature representatives from the DSS, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), among others.

According to the Commissioner, the Summit is expected to become a recurring initiative—possibly held monthly or quarterly—based on the success of its maiden edition. He requested the DSS’s active participation in sensitizing youths on security issues and developing guidelines to enhance awareness, particularly against cultism and other social vices.

In response, the DSS State Director, Mr. Isaac Ikechukwu Chikere, commended the Commissioner’s proactive approach to youth engagement and security. He acknowledged the vibrancy of Edo’s youth population and described the Summit as a laudable and innovative step. Mr. Chikere assured the Ministry of the DSS’s full support in fostering a more secure and youth-conscious environment across the State.
