Evangelist Dachomo, a Plateau-based cleric, has raised alarm over threats to his life following the circulation of a viral video in which he spoke about the alleged killing of Christians in Plateau State.
The cleric, who said he has received numerous threats since the video surfaced online, expressed concern for his safety and that of his family, urging security agencies to take proactive steps to protect him from potential harm.
According to Dachomo, his message in the video was a call for justice and government intervention to address ongoing violence against Christian communities in parts of Plateau and other regions of the Middle Belt. He lamented that rather than focusing on the substance of his message, some individuals had resorted to intimidation and threats.
He stressed that his statements were made in good faith, calling on authorities and religious leaders to unite in finding lasting peace. “I spoke out because silence in the face of injustice is complicity. I will not retract my words, but I appeal to those threatening me to desist,” he stated.
The Plateau State Police Command has yet to issue an official response regarding the cleric’s claim, but local sources say security operatives have been alerted to monitor the situation.
The viral video has sparked wide reactions across social and religious circles, reigniting debates over insecurity, religious intolerance, and freedom of expression in Nigeria.
