The Honorable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, officially commissioned the Coleman Fibre Optic Cable Factory (Phase II), celebrating 50 years of disciplined Nigerian manufacturing.
Speaking at the commissioning, Dr. Oduwole highlighted that the expansion of the factory is a key milestone for Nigeria’s digital economy, aiming to broaden broadband access, support smart industries, and enhance the country’s technological infrastructure. She emphasized that local manufacturing growth, coupled with technological innovation, is crucial for sustainable economic development, job creation, and global competitiveness.
The factory expansion is expected to boost domestic production of fibre optic cables, reducing dependency on imports while strengthening Nigeria’s position in the ICT and industrial sectors. The project also signals government commitment to supporting indigenous industries and fostering innovation-led growth.
