Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke have successfully rescued a kidnapped man, Alhaji Ali Adamu, in Lau Local Government Area, Taraba State, as part of ongoing counter-crime efforts under OPERATION LAFIYA NAKOWA, the military announced on 29 October 2025.
The rescue followed a distress call reporting the abduction of Alhaji Adamu, who was taken while sleeping outside his compound. Acting swiftly, the troops launched a hot pursuit of the kidnappers. Realizing they were being closed in on, the criminals abandoned their victim and fled into nearby bushes. Remarkably, the victim was reunited with his family without any ransom paid.
In a related development, local vigilantes and hunters on patrol near Maraban Kunini apprehended a suspected kidnapper, Lalau Adamu (30), allegedly involved in the abduction. The suspect sustained injuries during mob action but was immediately evacuated under military protection to a medical facility for treatment while investigations continue.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade / Sector 3 OPWS, commended the prompt and effective coordination between troops, vigilantes, and local hunters, emphasizing that timely intelligence and community cooperation remain key to successful security operations. He urged residents to continue providing credible information to help maintain peace across Taraba State.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding citizens, eliminating criminal threats, and sustaining security efforts across Taraba State and neighboring areas.
