Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, has dismissed claims by the US Secretary of State alleging large-scale killings of Christians in Nigeria. In his statement, Onanuga emphasized that the narrative does not reflect the realities on the ground.
“Muslim lives matter too. There is no ongoing slaughter of Christians in Nigeria,” he said, highlighting the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to protect citizens of all faiths across the nation.
Onanuga further reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to tackling violent extremism, promoting interfaith harmony, and safeguarding the rights and welfare of Nigerians irrespective of religion.
The presidential aide stressed that while global concern is appreciated, accurate understanding of Nigeria’s security landscape is crucial. He reiterated that the government continues to engage proactively with international partners to ensure peace, stability, and protection for all citizens.
