Aloy Ejimakor has shared a video documenting a life-threatening incident in which he took two direct teargas hits while peacefully protesting, highlighting the dangers Nigerians face when exercising their constitutional right to assembly.

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore condemned the treatment, contrasting the harsh response to peaceful protesters with the government’s perceived tolerance of fully armed terrorist groups. He pointed out that such incidents have drawn international attention, contributing to Nigeria being designated a “Country of Particular Concern” by the United States.

“The video shows how citizens are endangered by the very state meant to protect them. President Tinubu can change this narrative by freeing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and all prisoners of conscience who resorted to self-determination as a safeguard against permissive religious terror,” Sowore said.

The post has sparked renewed calls for government accountability, respect for human rights, and reforms to ensure the safety of peaceful demonstrators in Nigeria.
