Dateline: Ikeja, Lagos — November 4, 2025
Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos State Special Offences Court, sitting in Ikeja, has dismissed the no-case submission filed by social media celebrity Ismaila Mustapha, popularly known as Mompha, and his co-defendant.
The court held that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had successfully established a prima facie case of alleged fraud against the defendants, warranting them to enter their defence.
Mompha, who has been facing multiple charges bordering on money laundering and fraudulent transactions, had urged the court to dismiss the case for lack of evidence. However, Justice Dada ruled that the prosecution had provided sufficient material linking the defendants to the alleged offences.
The matter has been adjourned to January 27 and 28, 2026, for the continuation of hearing.
