The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Adamawa State chapter, has dismissed as false and malicious the viral social media reports claiming that its State Chairman was beheaded.
In an official statement issued on Saturday, the Christian body described the reports as the handiwork of mischief-makers and enemies of peace seeking to sow confusion and tarnish the image of both the government and security agencies in the state.
“The general public should disregard such fake information. The State CAN Chairman is safe, alive, and fully engaged in his official duties without any fear or intimidation,” the statement read.
CAN further called on security agencies to investigate and apprehend the individuals behind the fake news, warning that such actions pose a serious threat to peace, unity, and security in Adamawa and the nation at large.
The Association also commended the Adamawa State Police Command for promptly addressing the misinformation and urged a thorough investigation to bring the culprits to justice.
The statement concluded with a call for responsible social media use, emphasizing that spreading false information can incite unnecessary panic and undermine ongoing efforts to maintain peace in the state.
