KANO, NIGERIA — In a shocking security breach, an unidentified car thief sneaked into the Kano State Government House in the early hours of Monday and made away with a Toyota Hilux van belonging to the Deputy Governor’s convoy.

Sources within the Government House confirmed that the incident happened around 5:00 a.m., when the suspect gained access to the premises through Gate 4, a less-busy entrance often used by staff and security personnel.

According to reports, CCTV footage reviewed after the theft showed the thief driving the vehicle out through the main gate of the Government House without being stopped.

The development has raised serious questions about the state of security at one of the most protected government facilities in Kano.

Security officials have begun investigations into the incident, reviewing surveillance footage to trace how the intruder gained entry and managed to exit with the vehicle undetected.

As of press time, authorities have not issued an official statement, but sources say internal security measures are being reviewed to prevent a recurrence.
