The Anambra State Police Command has reassured residents of their safety following the circulation of panic-inducing voice notes and unverified security alerts making the rounds on social media. The Command said it is taking the situation seriously despite early findings showing that the messages lack credible evidence.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, said the Command has intensified security surveillance, strengthened visibility policing, and expanded both routine and targeted patrols across areas mentioned in the viral recordings.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Units, and Joint Security Teams to remain on heightened alert. He also ordered an increase in intelligence gathering and sustained aggressive patrol operations, both day and night, to ensure no security concern—real or fabricated—is overlooked.

The Command urged Ndi Anambra to remain calm and continue with their daily activities without fear, assuring that officers are fully committed to safeguarding lives and property across the state.

Residents were also advised to stop circulating unverified messages capable of causing unnecessary panic, warning that such actions could attract legal consequences.

For emergencies or assistance, the Police provided the following contacts: Control Room Hotline: 07039194332 and Emergency Number: 112.
