Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has restated his administration’s unwavering commitment to advancing tourism and strengthening the state’s blue economy, describing both sectors as critical pillars of his ARISE Agenda.

Speaking with Government House correspondents after inspecting one of the filming locations for The Black Book 2 (Old Scores) at Ishiet Beach/Market in Uruan Local Government Area, the Governor emphasized that his administration is fully prepared to support young professionals who contribute positively to the state’s image and development.

Governor Eno commended the movie’s Producer and Director, Mr. Editi Effiong, for deploying his creativity, talent, and global influence to spotlight the rich tourism potential of Akwa Ibom. He noted that Effiong’s work has already begun attracting national and international visibility to the state, driving economic activity and reinforcing Akwa Ibom’s reputation as a prime destination for film, leisure, and investment.

“The impression is amazing, seeing that we have one of our own trying to pull the world down here,” Governor Eno remarked. “Some people may see an abandoned swamp, but others—like Editi—see an opportunity to create something powerful, something that markets this state to the world. That is the mindset we need.”

He urged young Akwa Ibomites to avoid divisive tendencies and instead draw inspiration from achievers across the creative sector who continue to elevate the state’s profile. According to him, the success of The Black Book 2 demonstrates what is possible when creativity, vision, and partnership converge.

The Governor pledged his full support for Effiong and other Akwa Ibom creatives with the passion and capacity to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.
“We are going to work with him,” he assured. “I encourage our people in the diaspora—come back home. Whatever you’ve seen out there, bring it back here. Let’s build this place together. With the talent and high-caliber professionals who have visited the state because of this film, Editi truly deserves our commendation.”

In response, Mr. Effiong expressed deep appreciation for Governor Eno’s leadership style and his commitment to creating a conducive environment for tourism and creative enterprises to thrive. He praised the state government for investing in modern infrastructure, ensuring security, and providing a welcoming atmosphere—factors he says distinguish Akwa Ibom as one of Nigeria’s most film-friendly destinations.

Effiong added that the Governor’s support has inspired the cast, crew, and investors involved in the project, further affirming Akwa Ibom’s position as a rising cultural and creative hub.

With ongoing investments, strategic encouragement of local talents, and expanding creative partnerships, Akwa Ibom continues to position itself as a leading force in Nigeria’s tourism and blue economy landscape.
