Investigations revealed that Michael had been under police surveillance for some time and was linked to armed robbery activities across Oyo, Lagos, and Ogun states.
A search of the suspect yielded the following recovered items: a Magnum pump-action gun with six live cartridges, a range of mobile phones including iPhone models 8, XR, 13, 14 Pro Max, 15, 16 Blue, 17, Tecno devices, and five black Redmi phones, a Samsung Galaxy S10, a Wi-Fi device, a power bank, an Oraimo radio, four wristwatches, and a total cash sum of ₦130,000.
During questioning, the suspect admitted to carrying out robbery operations with three accomplices—Olaoluwa Pamole, Ahmed Ismail, and Lamidi—targeting members of the public at gunpoint in the Toll Gate and Egbeda areas of Ibadan. Acting on this information, police, in collaboration with the Command Monitoring Unit and led by the Divisional Police Officer of Akobo Division, raided a meeting point at Access Hotel, Sawmill, Onipepeye Area, Iwo Road, Ibadan. The suspects also confessed to involvement in the snatching of a grey Honda car in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, CP Femi Haruna, has directed that the case be transferred to the Command Monitoring Unit for detailed investigation and prosecution. Authorities have reiterated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspect and ensure that all involved face justice.
