A tragic incident in northeastern Nigeria has intensified concerns over violent crime at the community level, following the death of a 22-year-old man in Michika town, Adamawa State, after he was allegedly stabbed by two individuals. The victim, identified as Daniel Samuel, succumbed to injuries sustained during the attack shortly after reporting the incident to the police, authorities confirmed.
According to the Adamawa State Police Command, the attack occurred on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Despite suffering multiple knife wounds and visible blood loss, Samuel managed to reach the Divisional Police Headquarters in Michika, where he lodged a formal complaint and identified his alleged attackers as Dakiyar Tumba, aged 23, and Sini Luka, aged 31. Both suspects are said to reside in the same area as the victim, suggesting that the incident may have stemmed from a local dispute, although police have not yet confirmed a motive.
Police spokesperson Suleiman Nguroje, who disclosed details of the incident in a statement issued in Yola, said officers responded immediately upon receiving the report. The victim was rushed to a nearby medical facility for urgent treatment. However, despite efforts by healthcare personnel, he was later pronounced dead due to the severity of his injuries.
Authorities described the wounds as consistent with a violent assault involving a sharp object, and confirmed that the victim had been stabbed in the back. Following the victim’s statement, police operatives launched a swift operation that led to the arrest of the two suspects named by Samuel. He added that the knife allegedly used in the attack has been recovered and secured as evidence.
“The corpse has been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy,” Nguroje said, noting that forensic examination would help determine the precise cause of death and support the prosecution process. The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabir Umar Hassan, has condemned the killing, describing it as unacceptable and a threat to public safety.
