A new video has surfaced showing the abducted principal of Community High School, Esiele, in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, making an urgent plea for government rescue as she revealed that the terrorists holding her and other captives have become increasingly impatient, raising fears that they may be killed if help does not come quickly. The video, which was released on 27 May 2026, shows Mrs. Rachael Alamu, the principal, appealing directly to Governor Seyi Makinde and President Bola Tinubu to intervene before it is too late. In the footage, she described how the teachers and children are being left exposed to the elements, forced to endure the scorching sun during the day and heavy rain at night, with no proper shelter or care.

Mrs. Alamu, who was kidnapped alongside several staff members and dozens of pupils during a coordinated terrorist attack on three schools on 15 May 2026, spoke with visible distress in the video. She disclosed that the abductors have grown impatient and that the lives of the captives are now in imminent danger. “We are appealing to the governor and the president to please come to our aid. The terrorists are getting impatient. They have threatened that we may be killed. The children and teachers are being left under the scorching sun and heavy rain,” she said in the video, which has since gone viral on social media.

The attack on the schools in Oriire LGA, which occurred around 9:30 a.m. on 15 May, saw armed men on motorcycles storm Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Ahoro‑Esinele; and L.A. Primary School, Esiele. The gunmen shot sporadically, killing an assistant headmaster, Mr. Joel Adesiyan, and a commercial motorcyclist, before abducting the principal, seven teachers and about 39 pupils. A mathematics teacher, Mr. Michael Oyedokun, was later beheaded by his captors in a separate video released earlier. The attack has triggered widespread outrage and protest, with teachers in Oyo State taking to the streets to demand improved security and the safe return of their colleagues and students.

The latest video of Mrs. Alamu has deepened public anxiety and intensified pressure on the government to accelerate rescue operations. The Oyo State Government has previously confirmed that six suspects believed to be informants for the abductors have been arrested, while security agencies, including the military, police and local vigilantes, have intensified bush‑combing operations in the forests surrounding the Old Oyo National Park, where the captives are believed to be held. Governor Seyi Makinde has assured families that efforts to secure the release of the victims are ongoing, and the Inspector‑General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has been personally leading a technology‑driven rescue mission. However, as of 29 May 2026, the 46 pupils, students and teachers remain in captivity.

The release of the new video came on the same day that President Bola Tinubu, in a nationwide address to mark the third anniversary of his administration, declared that Nigeria’s economy had stabilised. However, for the families of the abducted children and teachers, the only priority remains the safe return of their loved ones. Mrs. Alamu’s desperate plea has once again laid bare the human cost of the country’s deepening security crisis and the urgent need for a resolution to the Oriire abduction that has now dragged on for two weeks.
