The leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has issued a grave warning to President Bola Tinubu over the unresolved abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State, declaring that Nigeria’s politicians are “heartless and satanic” and that the President risks being “disgraced out of office” if he fails to secure the release of the captives. In a statement issued by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, on Sunday, 31 May 2026, Ayodele lashed out at what he described as the failure of political leaders, religious figures and security institutions to address the worsening security crisis. “Our politicians are heartless and satanic to the nation, and there is no way nemesis will not fight. Even our clerics have failed us, including security operatives,” he said.
The cleric, who has previously issued warnings about security threats in Oyo State and around schools, claimed that his alerts were repeatedly ignored. “I had warned about Oyo like ten times in my video. I made mention of schools several times, but they didn’t listen. The President must do whatever he has to do to ensure the safety of these children,” Ayodele added. He also criticised Governor Seyi Makinde for attending a political rally while the abduction crisis remained unresolved, saying, “The blood of the innocent is crying.”
Ayodele’s warning came more than two weeks after armed bandits on motorcycles stormed three schools in Oriire Local Government Area on 15 May 2026. The attackers, dressed in military camouflage, killed an assistant headmaster, Mr Joel Adesiyan, and a commercial motorcyclist before abducting dozens of pupils, students and teachers. Among the captives is a two‑year‑old toddler, Christianah Akanbi, and the principal of Community High School, Mrs Rachael Alamu, who has since made viral pleas for the government to negotiate with her captors. A mathematics teacher, Mr Michael Oyedokun, was beheaded in captivity in a video that sparked national outrage.
While the Federal Government has deployed a high‑powered team led by the National Security Adviser, the Inspector‑General of Police and the Chief of Staff to the President, and has approved the recruitment of 1,000 forest guards for Oyo State, the victims remain in captivity. Ayodele warned that continued inaction could have severe political consequences for Tinubu. “Tinubu has failed woefully in terms of security. Nigeria is in pain, and if these children die, Tinubu should forget about a second term because this is how it started during Jonathan,” he said.
