Suspected terrorists abducted six women, including three nursing mothers, from a farm in Mussa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, on Sunday, June 28, 2026. The abduction occurred just a day before gunmen attacked Government Day Secondary School in neighbouring Lassa, abducting an unspecified number of students.

According to residents who spoke to THE WHISTLER, the women were seized while working on a farm located about one kilometre from Mussa. This is the same community where 42 pupils were abducted from a primary and junior secondary school 47 days earlier, on May 16, 2026. The attackers also rustled cattle in the area.

Residents expressed fear that they can no longer go to their farms for livelihood. “The first time they came, they took our cattle. The second time, they abducted our children. Now, they have taken women from farms barely one kilometre from the community,” one resident lamented. Parents of the 42 pupils abducted from Mussa nearly seven weeks ago said they have yet to receive any update on the whereabouts of their children.

The Borno State Police Command confirmed the attack on Lassa school, stating that ISWAP terrorists stormed the school at about 9 a.m. on Monday, June 29, shooting sporadically and abducting students, along with several women selling food on the premises. Police spokesperson Nahum Daso said security operatives confronted the attackers, preventing a larger-scale abduction.

The attackers, who wore military and forest guard uniforms and arrived on motorcycles, killed at least one teacher and trapped students inside classrooms before carrying some away. Residents said military aircraft were later seen conducting aerial surveillance over the area following the attacks.

Residents have appealed to federal and state governments, as well as the international community, to urgently intervene. Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, urged the Federal Government to intensify offensive operations against terrorists following the fresh abductions.
