A woman in Delta State has petitioned the Inspector-General of Police over allegations that a serving police officer allegedly shared her private nude videos without her consent and threatened her life.

The incident was reported on Friday, July 10, 2026, in Delta State, Nigeria, after the woman petitioned the office of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, requesting urgent intervention and protection. In her complaint, she accused her husband, a serving police officer, of allegedly distributing her intimate videos and issuing threats against her safety.

According to the petition, the woman alleged that the officer obtained the private materials during their relationship and later used them as a means of intimidation following a disagreement between them. She claimed that the videos were circulated without her approval, causing her emotional distress and exposing her to public embarrassment.

The complainant further alleged that she received threats to her life, prompting her to seek the intervention of the police authorities. She appealed to the Inspector-General of Police to order a thorough investigation into the matter and ensure that appropriate action is taken if the allegations are proven.

The allegations have renewed concerns about digital privacy violations, online harassment and the protection of individuals who report abuse involving persons in positions of authority. Under Nigeria’s Cybercrime Act, the unauthorised distribution of intimate images may constitute a criminal offence, depending on the circumstances and evidence presented.

The Nigeria Police Force has not publicly released the outcome of any investigation into the allegations, while the accused officer has not issued a public response. The claims remain allegations and have not been established by a court of law.

The case comes amid growing calls from civil society groups and rights advocates for stronger accountability mechanisms when complaints involve security personnel. They have continued to urge authorities to ensure that investigations are transparent and that victims receive adequate protection.

As police authorities review the petition, attention remains on the steps that will be taken to establish the facts surrounding the allegations and determine whether any disciplinary or legal action is required.
