The Ogun State Police Command has charged no fewer than 76 suspects to court following a series of intelligence-led raids and bush-combing operations conducted under the ongoing security initiative codenamed Operation KOSAYE, which translates to "No space" or "No chance" in Yoruba. The operation, launched by the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, is a joint security initiative aimed at wiping out criminal elements from Lagos and Ogun states, allaying fears of citizens, and combating banditry, kidnapping, cultism, and other violent crimes.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the latest enforcement action, which took place at about 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, led to the arrest of 43 suspects—comprising 28 males and 15 females—during a coordinated raid on a notorious criminal hideout at Isheri-Olofin along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, opposite the Kara Cattle Market. The operation, led by operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit, followed credible intelligence that the location had become a hub for cult activities, drug abuse, prostitution, and other criminal enterprises.
A search of the premises led to the recovery of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, "Loud," and other hard drugs, as well as 10 mobile phones, four power banks, a rechargeable hand fan, and a cross-body bag containing two ATM cards and a National Identity Card. All 43 suspects were subsequently charged to court and remanded in a correctional facility. They are facing prosecution for offences including criminal conspiracy, membership of an unlawful society, unlawful assembly, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, disorderly conduct, unlawful possession and use of suspected cannabis, prostitution, operating and managing an unlicensed brothel, robbery, and other related offences under the laws of Ogun State. All defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them.
With the prosecution of the latest 43 suspects, the total number of persons charged to court since the commencement of Operation KOSAYE has risen to 76, comprising 33 suspects prosecuted during the initial phase of the operation and the additional 43 from the recent raid. DSP Babaseyi noted that some of the suspects were providing useful information to investigators, while follow-up operations were ongoing to apprehend additional suspects and dismantle related criminal networks.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the professionalism, discipline, and operational effectiveness of the SWAT operatives, describing the latest raid as another significant milestone in the implementation of Operation KOSAYE. He reaffirmed the command's resolve to sustain intelligence-led policing and tactical operations to rid Ogun State of criminal hideouts, cult enclaves, drug joints, and brothels used as cover for illegal activities. Ojajuni also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing timely, credible, and actionable information to security agencies, assuring them of the command's commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining public peace across the state.
