Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a 28-year-old pregnant woman, Falmata Adamu, for allegedly transporting essential items suspected to be destined for Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists in Borno State. Security sources told Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication, that the suspect was apprehended at about 11:00 a.m. on July 13, 2026, by troops of the 162 Amphibious Battalion while conducting routine checkpoint operations along the Mandaragirau–Biu road.

According to the sources, the woman was intercepted after troops discovered items concealed in her civilian clothing during a search. The recovered items included 17 torchlights and 19 Tiger batteries, which investigators suspect were being transported to a terrorist enclave to support insurgent operations. The suspect was immediately taken into custody, and preliminary investigations are ongoing to determine the intended recipients of the items and possible links to a wider terrorist logistics network operating in the North-East.

Military sources said the interception forms part of ongoing efforts by Operation Hadin Kai to disrupt the supply chains sustaining Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists operating in the North-East. The arrest is part of sustained military efforts to cut off logistics channels supplying insurgent fighters in the region. Security sources added that the general security situation across the theatre remains calm but unpredictable, with troops maintaining a high level of operational readiness due to the unpredictable nature of the insurgency.

The arrest of a pregnant woman allegedly used as a courier highlights the lengths to which terrorist groups are willing to go to secure essential supplies, as well as the increasing pressure on their logistics networks from intensified military operations. Civilians being exploited as couriers underscore the insurgents' desperation for supplies, even as security forces intensify efforts to disrupt their supply routes. The timing of the arrest, amid ongoing operations in the North-East, reinforces the counter-insurgency momentum and signals sustained military vigilance in the region.

The incident also raises questions about the vulnerability of civilians, including pregnant women, who may be coerced or exploited by terrorist groups to transport goods. As troops maintain heightened operational readiness, the military continues to urge civilians to cooperate with security forces and report any suspicious activities. The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue, and authorities are expected to provide further updates as the case progresses. The arrest serves as a reminder of the complex and evolving nature of the insurgency in the North-East, where terrorist groups continue to adapt their tactics while security forces remain resolute in their counter-terrorism efforts.
