Police Neutralise Two Suspects, Arrest 21, Rescue 13 Kidnap Victims in 24-Hour Nationwide Blitz

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant operational successes across several states within the last 24 hours, leading to the neutralisation of two suspected kidnappers, the arrest of 21 criminal suspects, the recovery of seven firearms and 39 rounds of live ammunition, as well as the rescue of 13 kidnapped victims. The achievements, recorded through intelligence-led operations and collaboration with other security agencies, underscore the Force’s sustained commitment to tackling kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, cybercrime and other violent crimes across the country.

In Bauchi State, police operatives rescued two four-year-old children, Khadija Sani and Fatima Abdullahi, unharmed from an attempted abduction. The suspect, Bala Saidu Mohammed, allegedly lured the children with N50 each in an attempt to abduct them. The suspect was arrested, while the children were safely reunited with their parents. In a separate operation, the Bauchi State Police Command also arrested all seven suspects linked to a violent attack on Rahama House, an off-campus students’ residence, where victims sustained machete injuries and were dispossessed of their mobile phones. The Command also rescued a kidnapped victim, Alhaji Gide Mai Yara, during a coordinated search involving police patrol teams, local hunters and vigilantes.

In Gombe State, police arrested three suspects in separate operations. One of the suspects, Micah Nuhu, was arrested for alleged armed robbery and causing grievous bodily harm after he reportedly attacked a woman, identified as Mama Kingsley Joseph, with a pestle before fleeing with her purse. The stolen purse was later recovered, while the victim was rushed to hospital for treatment. In another operation, police arrested Nasiru Aminu, 40, and Jamiu Muhammad, 33, at a hideout in the Tumfure area of Akko Local Government Area. Items recovered from the suspects included 39 master keys and a screwdriver, which police suspect were intended for housebreaking activities. The Command also recovered a stolen Toyota Yaris after suspected carjackers stabbed its owner and abandoned him along the Tumu-Kashere Junction.

In Ondo State, operatives arrested two suspected members of the notorious Eiye Confraternity, identified as Sunday Monday, 30, and Samuel Omosaye, 27, following intelligence gathered from an earlier arrest. Police also raided a criminal hideout, arresting three suspects and recovering quantities of suspected Indian hemp and other illicit substances, including a substance suspected to be "ice".

In Edo State, operatives, working jointly with the Nigerian Army and the Edo State Security Corps, rescued three kidnapped students of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma — Favour Okoroje, 21; Precious Balogun, 19; and Praise Bagbalo, 18. During the operation, two suspected kidnappers were neutralised, while others escaped with gunshot wounds. Security operatives recovered three AK-47 rifles with magazines and 39 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

In the Federal Capital Territory, police operatives rescued 24-year-old Deborah Ogila from kidnappers following an intelligence-driven operation in Ara Forest, Nasarawa State. The Command also arrested three suspected members of a notorious one-chance robbery syndicate operating in a navy blue Volkswagen Golf. Recovered exhibits included a knife, screwdriver, rope, scissors, suspected hard drugs, an iron umbrella handle, a female wig and three mobile phones.

In Kebbi State, a combined security team comprising the Police, 36 Police Mobile Force, Civilian Joint Task Force and vigilantes foiled a kidnap attempt, rescuing Hakimin Badariya, Urotu Shehu and members of his family from armed attackers in Birnin Kebbi. Three injured labourers received prompt medical attention while security operatives restored calm in the area.

In Nasarawa State, police operatives arrested six suspected internet fraudsters during a raid on their hideout in Rugan Madaki. Recovered items included one Makarov pistol, four mobile phones, multiple ATM cards and nine laptops, while investigations continue to apprehend other syndicate members.

In Delta State, police arrested two armed robbery suspects along the Asaba-Benin Expressway in collaboration with a civilian anti-cult group. Two locally made pistols and other incriminating items were recovered. Further investigation led to the arrest of an alleged gun runner at a hotel in Ogwashi-Uku.

In Taraba State, police arrested an 18-year-old suspected cultist, Usman A. Usman, who was allegedly found carrying a mini revolver pistol during a confrontation. The firearm was recovered, while police launched a manhunt for his fleeing accomplices.

In Imo State, a joint operation involving the police, military and local vigilantes led to the arrest of a suspected armed robber during a cordon-and-search operation in Owerri. A locally fabricated pistol and an expended cartridge were recovered, while another suspect remains at large. In Enugu State, police arrested two suspected members of the Abashie Confraternity during a raid at Banana Estate, Independence Layout. Officers recovered 11 sachets of suspected illicit drugs, eight motorcycles and one tricycle abandoned by fleeing gang members.

The Nigeria Police Force has intensified its nationwide offensive against violent crime, arresting suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists, human traffickers and other criminal elements across several states. A summary of police operations in the last 24 hours, released by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu, showed that operatives recorded significant breakthroughs in Gombe, Ondo, Bauchi, Anambra, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Imo and Enugu states, while investigations and rescue efforts continued in Kebbi, Kogi, Niger, Benue and Nasarawa states. The Police continue to urge the public to provide useful information to support security operations.
