The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board has issued a fresh and binding dress code for candidates shortlisted for the oral interview stage of its ongoing 2024/2025 recruitment exercise, warning that anyone who fails to comply will be denied access to the interview venue. The clarification, contained in a statement released on Thursday, September 3, 2026, by the Board's Head of Press and Public Relations, Okeh Juliet, comes just days before the oral interview is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 7, 2026.
According to the Board, the dress code is as follows: candidates must wear a plain white T-shirt, which may be either short or long-sleeved, though long sleeves are optional for female candidates. For the lower body, male and female candidates are expected to wear white shorts or white long trousers, with long trousers also being optional for women. The Board further mandated that all candidates must wear white sneakers and white socks. Female applicants are permitted to wear a headscarf, though this is not compulsory.
The Board said the clarification became necessary after receiving several enquiries from shortlisted candidates seeking to know what they were expected to wear to the interview. The statement stressed that compliance is not negotiable, warning that "Candidates who fail to comply will not be granted access to the interview venue". The oral interview represents the final phase of the 2024/2025 recruitment exercise into four federal security agencies: the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigerian Correctional Service, the Federal Fire Service, and the Nigeria Immigration Service.
The Board had earlier announced that applicants in the graduate category were expected to confirm their shortlisting status through the official recruitment portal between August 31 and September 2, 2026. Applicants who applied with NCE, OND or SSCE qualifications are scheduled to check their status from September 7 to 9. Candidates who make the shortlist are expected to choose an interview venue closest to them and select a convenient date and time before printing their invitation letters. The Board also reiterated that the recruitment exercise is completely free, warning applicants not to give money to anyone in exchange for employment.
As the September 7 deadline approaches, all eyes will be on the candidates to see if they can meet the Board's strict dress code requirements. For those who fail to comply, the message is clear: they will be turned away at the gate.
