Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq at the weekend visited Babanla and Oke-Ode communities in Ifelodun Local Government Area to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to public safety and economic stability following recent security incidents.
During the visit, the governor commiserated with families who lost loved ones, promising that government will intensify measures to prevent future breaches. He also announced that the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) has been directed to provide support for affected households.
Governor AbdulRazaq, who was received in Babanla by the traditional ruler, Oba Aliyu Adegboyega Yusuf Arojojoye II, was accompanied by top security officials, including Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade; Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo; and Senior Special Assistant on Security, Muyideen Aliyu. The Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hon. Femi Yusuf, was also part of the delegation.
“We are here today to commiserate with you and to reassure you that such incidents will not be allowed to reoccur,” the governor said. “Our security commanders are on ground, and calm has been restored. Those responsible will be flushed out of this area.”
The monarch of Babanla expressed gratitude to the governor and the federal authorities for their swift intervention. He noted that the attack had led to the theft of motorcycles, food items, and phones, while urging government to consider developing Babanla’s vast farmlands to improve economic opportunities and deny criminals access to hiding places.
The governor also lauded security agencies and community members for their resilience, stressing that peace and stability would remain top priorities for the state government.
