As part of efforts to strengthen the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Gombe State, Dr. Sa’ad Umar, has paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Gombe and Chairman of the State Council of Emirs and Chiefs, His Royal Highness Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III.

During the visit, Dr. Umar commended the Emir for his longstanding support to the Commission, recalling his contributions to past electoral activities such as advocacy campaigns on CVR, Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection, and the promotion of peaceful elections.

The REC briefed the Emir on the progress of the exercise, noting that online pre-registration began on August 18, 2025, followed by in-person registration on August 25, 2025. He raised concern over the backlog of more than 60,000 uncollected PVCs in Gombe State and appealed for stronger participation of traditional and religious leaders in sensitizing citizens.

In response, the Emir reaffirmed the full support of the Gombe Emirate Council and the State Council of Emirs and Chiefs. He instructed all District and Village Heads present to engage community leaders in ensuring the message reaches the grassroots, stressing the importance of women’s active involvement in the democratic process.

The visit also featured an interactive session with District and Village Heads, where Dr. Umar addressed questions and clarified issues. He was accompanied by the Acting Administrative Secretary, Fadimatu Aliyu Bakari, and other members of the State Management Team.
