

It was a colourful evening in Abuja as Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, joined diplomats, global dignitaries, and members of the Pakistani community to mark Pakistan’s Independence and Defence Day.
The ceremony, hosted at the High Commission of Pakistan, drew ambassadors, defence attachés, senior government officials, and top military officers. Governor Inuwa Yahaya, who graced the occasion as a special guest of honour, was warmly received by Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Major General (Rtd) Sohail Ahmad Khan.
The High Commissioner paid glowing tribute to Pakistan’s national heroes, martyrs, and founding fathers, highlighting the nation’s resilience and progress since gaining independence in 1947.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Governor Inuwa Yahaya underscored the importance of international cooperation built on mutual respect and shared values. He praised Pakistan’s contributions to global peace and development, while also stressing the need to further deepen diplomatic and cultural ties between Nigeria and Pakistan.
