The Bayelsa State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai-based Jampur Group for the establishment of renewable energy (solar power) and smart electricity metering production plants in the state.
Governor Douye Diri, who made the announcement on Thursday, described the $3 million private-sector-driven investment as a major milestone in Bayelsa’s industrialisation drive and job creation efforts.
Jampur Group, which is already handling the supply and installation of 60MW gas turbines for the state’s Independent Power Plant Project set to be completed by year’s end, will also spearhead the new renewable and smart metering ventures.
Governor Diri commended Jampur Group Chairman, Mohammed Shafiq, for his continued partnership with Bayelsa, assuring that his administration is committed to sustaining an enabling environment and providing security for investments to thrive.
He emphasised that the projects will not only generate employment and skills acquisition opportunities but also solidify the state’s industrial base, boosting energy access and long-term economic growth.
