
Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago joined other stakeholders at a breakfast meeting of the United States-Nigeria Council (USNC) held at the Yale Club, New York, as part of the sideline events of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The USNC, a premier organization dedicated to strengthening commercial and business ties between the United States and Nigeria, fosters long-term partnerships that drive innovation, entrepreneurship, technology transfer, job creation, and economic growth in both countries.
The event featured prominent speakers including Mr. Dele Alake, Hon. Minister of Solid Minerals; Dr. Heineken Lokpobiri, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil); and Mr. Will Steven, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the United States Bureau of African Affairs.
Governor Bago highlighted Niger State’s strategic position in Nigeria’s mineral belt, showcasing key deposits of gold, copper, lithium, lead, tantalite, beryllium, tin, and wolframite, reinforcing the state’s potential as an untapped frontier for mining investment.
