The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and job creation as he received the Honourable Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, at the Light House in Awka on Friday.

The Minister’s courtesy visit forms part of the nationwide roll-out of President Bola Tinubu’s Labour & Employment Programme, which was unveiled on 15 April 2025 to shrink Nigeria’s unemployment gap.

During the meeting, Minister Onyejeocha commended Anambra State’s proactive steps toward addressing youth unemployment through its flagship “One Youth, Two Skills” programme. She expressed her desire to partner with the state government to scale the initiative and ensure wider impact.

Governor Soludo welcomed the Minister’s remarks and pledged his administration’s readiness to work closely with the Federal Government and other stakeholders to expand opportunities for young people.

“Youth development, job creation, and economic empowerment sit at the core of our governing philosophy,” Soludo said. “My team and I are eager to work shoulder to shoulder with the Federal Government and partners to secure productive, dignified opportunities for every young son and daughter of Anambra.”

The visit underscores the Federal Government’s Labour & Employment Programme as a national strategy to tackle unemployment, while also highlighting Anambra’s role as a model state in youth empowerment. The synergy between federal and state initiatives is expected to:

  • Enhance vocational and entrepreneurial training for young Nigerians.

  • Create sustainable employment opportunities.

  • Strengthen state-federal collaboration in tackling joblessness.

With youth unemployment remaining one of Nigeria’s biggest socio-economic challenges, the partnership between Anambra State and the Federal Government represents a practical step towards inclusive growth and long-term national development.
