The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, has officially commissioned the Lagos Industrial Leather Hub, West Africa’s largest facility of its kind, located in Matori, Mushin. The hub has been named the “Senator Oluremi Tinubu Industrial Leather Hub.”
Approved by the Lagos State Executive Council in December 2020, construction of the facility commenced in September 2021 and has since been completed. The state-of-the-art hub is equipped with advanced industrial leatherwork machinery, designed for large-scale production of shoes, bags, belts, and other leather goods.
The facility also features showrooms, training rooms, workstations, offices, restaurants, and other essential workspaces, ensuring a conducive environment for artisans and small businesses.
Officials highlighted that the Leather Hub is expected to create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, while providing local artisans and MSMEs with access to wider markets. In addition, the hub will offer structured training and capacity-building programs to bridge skill gaps and enhance the quality and competitiveness of Nigerian-made leather products.
The commissioning of the hub reflects ongoing efforts to boost industrialization, empower local entrepreneurs, and strengthen Nigeria’s position in the leather industry across the region.
