Governor Agbu Kefas has broken his silence on the prolonged absence of Taraba State’s Deputy Governor, calling for compassion, unity, and humanity in the face of political speculation.

Speaking directly to the people in an emotional address, Governor Kefas acknowledged the concerns raised over the Deputy Governor’s ill health, which has kept him away from official duties for several months.

“This is not a political matter—it is a human one,” the Governor said. “Our Deputy Governor fell ill while serving Taraba State faithfully and on official duty. Now, in his moment of need, it is our turn to stand by him.”

Drawing from his years of service in the Nigerian military, the Governor invoked the spirit of esprit de corps — the solidarity that binds comrades together regardless of religion, ethnicity, or background. He reminded citizens that the Deputy Governor’s service to the state deserves loyalty in return.

Quoting both the Bible and the Qur’an, Governor Kefas stressed that moral duty must complement constitutional obligation:

  • Galatians 6:2“Bear one another’s burdens.”

  • Surah Al-Ma’idah (5:32)“Whoever saves one life, it is as though he has saved all mankind.”

The Governor assured residents that all constitutional requirements have been followed and pledged to act decisively should circumstances necessitate changes to the Deputy Governor’s position in the future.

“Leadership is about humanity before politics,” he said. “Let us lift him in prayer, support his family, and show that Taraba State stands for compassion over ambition.”

Governor Kefas concluded by urging unity among citizens, regardless of faith or background, emphasizing that the current challenge is a test of the state’s shared humanity.
