
As part of efforts to empower women, youths, and young farmers, the First Lady of Plateau State and state coordinator for the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), Barr. Helen Mutfwang, officially launched the 2025 Plateau chapter of the Renewed Hope Initiative Agricultural Support Program (RHI-ASP) at Center la Sharp, Rayfield Resort, Jos.
Addressing 500 beneficiaries, Barr. Mutfwang highlighted that the program, initiated by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, is designed to serve as a catalyst for sustainable agriculture and food security. The initiative comprises four key components: Women Agricultural Support Program (WASP), Youth Agricultural Support Program (YASP), Every Home a Garden (EHAG), and the Young Farmers Club, all aimed at boosting participation, empowering women, and promoting resilient agricultural practices.
Barr. Mutfwang expressed gratitude to Sen. Oluremi Tinubu and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture for their support, urging beneficiaries to leverage the program for a prosperous future. Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Caroline Panglang Dafur, also commended the initiative, emphasizing effective follow-up and monitoring of the program.
The program featured educational sessions, including lectures on "Livestock Farming and Introduction to Goat Farming" by Dr. Emmanuel Danjuma and "Home Garden" by Dr. Silas Dapiya. Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support, promising to maximize the use of resources provided.
The launch saw attendance from Commissioner of Agriculture, Samson Bugama (represented by Emmanuel Kwapdimwa), Commissioner of Education, Kachollom Gang, wives of State House Assembly members, commissioners, local government chairmen, PDP women leaders, students, and other government officials.
Beneficiaries received a range of agricultural inputs, including fertilizers, birds, seedlings, watering cans, herbicides, poultry feeds, goats, ruminant feed, hoes, wheelbarrows, farmers’ caps, and gloves to support their farming activities.
