Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre has issued a stern warning to Nigerians regarding the proliferation of online loan applications, describing them as “agents of the devil” preying on unsuspecting citizens. According to the cleric, these platforms, which promise instant loans with minimal requirements, often lure users into cycles of debt with exorbitant interest rates, hidden charges, and aggressive collection tactics.
Speaking during a Sunday sermon, Pastor Enenche urged Nigerians to exercise caution, highlighting the financial and psychological toll that reckless borrowing can have on families and communities. He explained that many individuals, especially youths and low-income earners, are easily enticed by the promise of quick money, only to find themselves trapped in long-term repayment obligations that can lead to financial ruin.
The pastor also called on the government and regulatory authorities to strengthen oversight of digital lending platforms to ensure transparency and protect vulnerable citizens. He emphasized the importance of financial literacy and urged church members and the general public to explore safer alternatives for meeting urgent financial needs, including community support programs, savings, and investment schemes.
Concluding his message, Pastor Enenche reiterated that spiritual vigilance should accompany financial prudence, reminding Nigerians that short-term financial gains obtained through unscrupulous platforms often come with long-term consequences.
