The NNPC/Nigeria Agip Exploration (NAE) partnership has awarded fully funded scholarships to thirty young Nigerians from various ethnic backgrounds to pursue Master’s degrees across multiple disciplines. The awards were presented during a brief ceremony in Abuja on Friday by NNPC Ltd.’s Chief Upstream Investment Officer, Oluwaseyi Omotowa, represented by the Deputy Manager of External Relations at NUIMS, alongside NAE Managing Director, Mr. Fabrizio Bolondi. The officials encouraged the beneficiaries to seize the opportunity, follow their passions, and contribute meaningfully to national economic development.

The NNPC/NAE Production Sharing Contract (PSC) Postgraduate Scholarship Award Scheme provides full funding for one-year Master’s programmes in fields such as Geosciences, Engineering, and Petroleum Economics. Ten students were awarded overseas scholarships valued at USD 50,000 each, while twenty students received scholarships worth five million Naira each for programmes at Nigerian universities.

Established in 2004 by NNPC in partnership with ENI, the parent company of NAE, the scheme has grown into a landmark annual initiative, benefiting over 350 Nigerian students to date. Of these, 116 have pursued studies overseas, while 255 have been supported to study at universities within Nigeria. The programme reflects NNPC Ltd.’s ongoing commitment, through its joint venture and PSC operations, to positively impact the lives of Nigerians and strengthen the nation’s human capital.
