Kebbi State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Usman Zuru, condemns false claims by former AGF Malami, calls on security agencies to investigate, reaffirming commitment to peace and development in Kebbi State.
The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Usman Zuru (Lifiddan Zuru), has strongly condemned claims by former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, urging security agencies to investigate the matter and prosecute where necessary. The remarks came during a press briefing at the State Assembly Complex on Saturday, 13th September 2025.
Malami’s petition alleged that the Kebbi State Government was involved in importing political thugs, foreign mercenaries, and clandestine arms into the state. Rt. Hon. Zuru described these allegations as baseless, unfounded, and politically motivated, warning that they were designed to distract the government from its developmental agenda and create unnecessary tension among citizens.
“Kebbi State is a land of peace, dignity, and law-abiding citizens. Any attempt to tarnish this reputation with falsehoods is an attack not only on the government but on the people of Kebbi State,” the Speaker said. He emphasized that the state government has no record of, nor any agenda for, importing political thugs or mercenaries and dismissed claims of clandestine arms deals as malicious and unsupported by evidence.
The Speaker also reassured residents that security agencies at both state and federal levels remain active and vigilant, and no intelligence has linked the government to such criminal activities. He called on the people to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, while urging security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation to ensure that those spreading falsehoods for political gain are held accountable.
Rt. Hon. Zuru reaffirmed the Assembly’s support for Governor Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu) and his vision for progress, peace, and prosperity in Kebbi State. He stressed that the state will not be drawn into politics of bitterness or false accusations and that the focus remains on development, unity, and the welfare of all Kebbians.
He further appealed to the media and the public to exercise caution in reporting unverified claims, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the harmony Kebbi has long enjoyed.
