Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Directorate, have arrested 19 suspected internet fraudsters in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State. The suspects, comprising 18 males and one female, were apprehended on Friday, September 19, 2025, following credible intelligence linking them to fraudulent internet-related activities.

According to the EFCC, the raid led to the recovery of several incriminating items, including a Honda Civic car, 33 mobile phones, five laptop computers, one peak power generating set, three Bluetooth speakers, a white calabash, and other fetish materials believed to have been used to aid their illegal operations.

The anti-graft agency stated that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

The latest arrest underscores the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on cybercrime across Nigeria, particularly among youths who have increasingly resorted to fraudulent internet practices. The commission reiterated its commitment to sanitising the digital space and ensuring that those found culpable face the full weight of the law.
