In a decisive move against armed militias threatening peace in Plateau State, troops of 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF OPEP) carried out a successful offensive operation on 19 September 2025 at Jamrop Village, Qua’an Pan Local Government Area (LGA).

The operation, which followed credible intelligence reports, targeted militias responsible for the burning of huts in the community. Leveraging technology-enabled surveillance and rapid response, troops intercepted 15 armed suspects directly linked to the arson attacks.

Recovered from the suspects were 15 fabricated rifles, 105 cartridges, and various other items, all now in custody along with the apprehended individuals. Authorities confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down fleeing members of the militia.

In a statement, Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of JTF Operation ENDURING PEACE, reaffirmed the commitment of troops to intensify operations, strengthen situational awareness, and expose criminal elements fueling insecurity in the Joint Operations Area. He stressed that the identities of perpetrators will be fully uncovered to ensure justice and restore lasting peace to affected communities.

This latest breakthrough highlights the Nigerian Army’s ongoing resolve to protect citizens and dismantle networks of criminal gangs across Plateau and neighboring regions.
