Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on Nigerians in the diaspora to actively invest in the state’s growth, stressing that Lagos remains the gateway to Nigeria’s economic transformation and Africa’s future.

The governor made the appeal while attending the 14th Biennial Convention and 25th Anniversary of Eko Club International in New Jersey, where he joined members of the global Lagos community to celebrate the milestone.

Highlighting Lagos’s recent achievements, Sanwo-Olu noted that the state has successfully hosted global events, expanded its metro system, exported refined petroleum products to the United States for the first time, and accelerated the transformation of its Free Trade Zone into what is projected to become Africa’s largest industrial hub.

He described these milestones as part of the “Lagos Advantage” – a bold spirit of innovation that continues to set the state apart as a thriving destination for business, culture, and development.

While applauding Eko Club International for 25 years of service in building bridges across continents and supporting communities, Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the state’s growth story cannot be complete without the input of its diaspora population.

“I encouraged our brothers and sisters abroad to seize opportunities in housing, healthcare, education, and technology. These sectors not only hold huge potential for investors but also ensure Lagosians, both at home and abroad, benefit from shared prosperity,” he said.

The governor reaffirmed that Lagos is positioning itself as the future of Nigeria and Africa, urging the diaspora to play a role in shaping that journey.
