Troops Arrest Suspected Kidnappers in Taraba During Operation Lafiya Nakowa

The Nigerian Army has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing clearance operations across Taraba State under the codename Operation Lafiya Nakowa. Troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke on September 19, 2025, arrested two suspected kidnappers during a raid in Karim Lamido Local Government Area.

Acting on credible intelligence, soldiers stormed a hideout in the Garau axis of Rafin Taba community, where they apprehended Ibrahim Umaru and Adamu Malam Musa, both identified as notorious figures linked to multiple kidnapping incidents within and outside Taraba State.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspects had taken part in several abductions, often moving victims across state lines into Plateau State—particularly around the notorious Madam Forest—to avoid security detection. They also confessed to receiving huge ransom payments from distraught families.

Commending the troops for their swift and professional action, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to eliminating criminal networks that threaten peace and security in the state. He assured residents that joint operations with other security agencies would continue until stability is fully restored.

The Army urged citizens to support ongoing security operations by providing credible intelligence while warning criminal groups to abandon their activities or face decisive military action.
