The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has stepped up efforts to educate and engage citizens ahead of the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, scheduled to be devolved to the 62 electoral wards in Abuja on Monday, September 29, 2025.
As part of the intensified outreach, INEC staff, alongside serving corps members, visited major markets across the six Area Councils to interact with residents, respond to inquiries, and assist with voter transfers or requests for replacement of lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). Flyers and educational materials were distributed to ensure that citizens were fully informed about the registration process and their rights to participate.
Electoral officers also convened stakeholders’ meetings within their respective Area Councils to secure the support and collaboration of key community leaders. The move is aimed at enhancing citizen participation and ensuring that no eligible voter is left out of the CVR exercise, especially as the FCT prepares for forthcoming Area Council elections.
Officials stressed that these outreach efforts demonstrate INEC’s commitment to fostering a transparent and inclusive electoral process while encouraging robust civic engagement at the grassroots level.
