Abuja — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to the nation’s capital today after a ten-day working trip to Lagos, which combined traditional engagements, strategic investor meetings, and preparations for national events.

The President arrived in Lagos on September 26, immediately after attending the coronation of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland. The event provided a symbolic start to Tinubu’s engagements with both traditional and modern governance stakeholders.

During his stay in Lagos, the President held discussions with major investors, including Bayo Ogunlesi, CEO of Global Infrastructure Partners, and Keem Belo-Osagie, Chairman of Metis Capital Partners. Analysts note that these meetings are part of the administration’s broader strategy to attract foreign investment and strengthen Nigeria’s infrastructure and energy sectors.

President Tinubu also received the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Mr. Arsenio Dominguez, alongside Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, reaffirming the government’s commitment to develop Nigeria’s maritime industry as a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. The discussions are expected to accelerate investment and capacity-building in ports, shipping, and marine logistics.

Ahead of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day, the President traveled to Imo State to commission several state projects initiated by Governor Hope Uzodimma. He also unveiled a book authored by the governor chronicling a decade of APC governance, signaling the party’s intent to consolidate achievements and document governance milestones. Tinubu later delivered the national broadcast from State House, Dodan Barracks, and commissioned the renovated National Theatre, now renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, urging Nigerians to focus on positive narratives about the country’s progress.

On October 4, the President visited Jos, Plateau State, to attend the funeral of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of APC chairman Professor Nantawe Yilwatda. At the funeral, he paid tribute to Mama Yilwatda and reassured Christian communities in Northern Nigeria of his administration’s commitment to equity and fairness across all religious groups — a gesture seen as critical for fostering national cohesion amid regional sensitivities.

Political observers note that Tinubu’s recent movements underscore a blend of political symbolism, engagement with investors, and efforts to strengthen the administration’s national narrative ahead of key governance milestones.
