The Commissioner for Transport, Plateau State, Hon. Davou Gyang Jatau, held an interactive session with tricycle union representatives to review the implementation of the congestion levy and the deployment of Quick Response (QR) codes on tricycles operating within Jos North and Jos South Local Government Areas.

The meeting brought together officials from major tricycle unions, including TRUN, NURTW, NARTO, ACOMORAN, and NATOMORAS, who collectively expressed support for government reforms while urging fairness and transparency in the process.

Addressing the unions, Commissioner Jatau emphasized that the policy is intended to enhance commuter safety and strengthen revenue generation in accordance with the law. He assured the unions that their concerns would be taken seriously, and necessary adjustments would be considered.

Following an open dialogue, both parties agreed to collaborate to ensure the successful implementation of the initiative. The unions pledged to educate their members on the importance of the policy, while the Ministry committed to maintaining open communication and addressing legitimate concerns.

The resolution marks a collaborative step forward, aligning all stakeholders on the need to improve transport safety and revenue collection without compromising the livelihoods of tricycle operators.
