JIGAWA STATE – In a landmark political development, over 64,000 members of the PDP, ADC, and other political parties formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday in Jigawa State, signaling a significant boost for the ruling party in the region.
The ceremony, held in Jigawa, saw President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR represented by Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, who assured the new members of equal treatment alongside long-serving party members.
President Tinubu, through his representative, commended the courage of the defectors, emphasizing that their decision strengthens the APC’s commitment to national development. He also reiterated the government’s dedication to enhancing security across Nigeria and completing key infrastructure projects, including the Kano–Maiduguri federal highway, aimed at improving trade and economic growth.
Governor Umar Namadi Danmodi received praise from Tinubu for developmental strides in Jigawa that have positively impacted the lives of residents. Likewise, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, welcomed the defectors, encouraging them to actively contribute to the party’s vision and agenda.
Speaking at the event, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political Matters, Alh. Kabiru Ibrahim Masari, urged Jigawa residents to support the APC administration, assuring that the state would continue to benefit from federal backing.
Governor Danmodi also expressed confidence that APC remains unchallenged in Jigawa, highlighting the importance of the defections in strengthening the party’s political dominance in the state.
The mass defection underscores APC’s growing influence in Jigawa and reflects the widespread appeal of President Tinubu’s leadership across political divides.
