Nigeria Police Concludes National Cybercrime Awareness Campaign in Abuja

ABUJA — The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF–NCCC) has concluded its one-day Cybercrime Awareness Campaign in Abuja, marking a major step in promoting digital safety and strengthening public awareness against cyber threats across the country.

The event, which drew more than 3,000 participants from schools, government agencies, private institutions, and digital platforms, focused on educating Nigerians on safe online practices and the need for shared responsibility in protecting the nation’s digital space.

Speaking at the event, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, FCID, DIG Sadiq Abubakar, reaffirmed the Force’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a safer digital environment for all Nigerians.

In his remarks, the Director of the NPF–NCCC, CP Uche Ifeanyi Henry, commended stakeholders and partners for their consistent support in the fight against cybercrime. He emphasized that the campaign was part of the Force’s strategic mandate to empower citizens with knowledge and resilience against online threats.

“Today’s digital era demands that all Nigerians are not just users but guardians of their own cybersecurity,” he said, stressing the importance of continuous cyber education, enhanced reporting systems, and stronger enforcement mechanisms.

The campaign featured an awareness walk, the distribution of sensitization materials, and a musical fiesta, which added an interactive dimension to the event’s message — Stay Smart, Stay Safe Online.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated that the Cybercrime Awareness Campaign represents its sustained effort to build a secure digital ecosystem, where citizens can operate confidently and safely in the evolving digital world.
