The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Ltd (NNPC Ltd) has reaffirmed its commitment to developing and modernizing the nation’s downstream sector to enhance operational efficiency and foster strategic collaboration.
Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Bayo Ojulari, made the announcement during the opening ceremony of the 2025 OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week in Lagos, themed "Energy Sustainability: Beyond Boundaries & Competition". He emphasized that competition alone is insufficient to drive sector efficiency and urged operators to embrace collaboration, sustainability, and resilience as core principles.
Ojulari highlighted NNPC’s plans to expand infrastructure across the oil and gas value chain and revamp existing downstream facilities nationwide. He noted that these assets will be available for partners seeking storage and transportation solutions, encouraging strategic alliances and cooperation within the sector.
He also pointed to factors such as strategic policies, fiscal incentives, and transparent regulatory frameworks under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) as drivers of growth, noting the need for new skill sets and investment in emerging areas like LPG, CNG, and mini-LNG projects.
Ojulari urged conference participants to explore innovative approaches that redefine energy systems profitably and sustainably, foster cross-sector partnerships, and support decarbonization efforts while creating economic value.
The OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week remains a premier continental event, bringing together international organizations, policymakers, regulators, operators, and service providers in the downstream energy value chain.
