The Bauchi State Fire Service has kicked off an extensive sensitization and advocacy initiative to promote fire safety awareness across the state’s markets and motor parks.

According to Acting Director Dauda Bala Pali, the program seeks to equip traders, market leaders, and transport workers with knowledge on preventive measures, emergency response protocols, and safe handling of fire-prone materials. Pali emphasized that fire safety is a shared responsibility, urging all stakeholders to cultivate a culture of safety and zero tolerance for fire hazards.

The Acting Director further encouraged market and union leaders to nominate members for specialized training on fire outbreak management, which the agency will provide.

Representing the State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, Adama Ibrahim commended market leadership for their cooperation and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustaining safety initiatives, noting that the sensitization drive forms part of a broader strategy to make Bauchi safer and more resilient.

Mr. Manase Joga, Head of Fire Prevention and Enlightenment, reminded market stakeholders of critical emergency response steps and the importance of sharing fire safety knowledge to reduce risks associated with fire outbreaks.

Market and motor park leaders expressed appreciation to the State Fire Service for the initiative, recognizing its potential to prevent fire-related disasters and safeguard lives and property.
