The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has disclosed that 170 individuals from different countries have submitted applications to become Nigerian citizens.

Speaking at a meeting of the Advisory Committee on Nigerian Citizenship (ACNC) in Abuja, Dr. Tunji-Ojo highlighted that citizenship is a privilege, not a right, and must be granted only to applicants who demonstrate integrity, good character, and respect for the nation’s laws.

He directed the committee to conduct thorough vetting of all applications, cautioning against any attempt to secure citizenship through illegal or fraudulent means.

“Only applicants of impeccable integrity will be considered. Nigeria remains the greatest asset to its citizens,” the minister stated, reaffirming that the process is aligned with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, promoting national security, prosperity, and ethical governance.

The Minister’s remarks underscore the government’s commitment to ensuring that Nigerian citizenship is conferred responsibly, safeguarding the country’s interests while welcoming individuals who can positively contribute to its development.
