Suspected bandits have abducted an Anglican priest, Reverend Edwin Achi, and his wife, Mrs. Sarah Achi, following an early morning raid on Nissi village in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
A member of the Anglican Church of Nigeria confirmed the abduction, revealing that the heavily armed attackers invaded the community before dawn and forcefully took the couple from their residence.
The source, who spoke to SaharaReporters, expressed dismay that the incident had not received wider media attention, describing it as a reflection of the worsening insecurity plaguing rural communities across Kaduna State.
“The bandits invaded Nissi village and took away Reverend Achi and his wife. Sadly, incidents like this are happening too often, yet many of them never make it to the news,” the source lamented.
As of press time, neither the Kaduna State Police Command nor the Anglican Diocese had issued an official statement regarding the incident.
The abduction adds to the growing list of kidnappings and violent attacks targeting clergy and residents in the Chikun axis, a region that has witnessed recurring cases of banditry and ransom-driven crimes in recent months.
