The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested 59 suspects in a series of coordinated raids targeting major black spots and criminal hideouts across Abuja.
Reliable sources disclosed that the late-night operation, which took place on Saturday, was carried out by operatives from several divisional commands, including Apo, Kubwa, Karu, Karmo, Life Camp, Maitama, Wuse, Mabushi, Nyanya, Jikwoyi, Zuba, and Tungan Maje.
According to police authorities, the intelligence-led exercise focused on uncompleted buildings, abandoned structures, and known criminal enclaves within the respective divisions’ jurisdictions.
The FCT Police Command said the move was part of ongoing efforts to curb rising street crimes, drug peddling, and armed robbery within the capital city.
All arrested suspects, the police confirmed, are currently undergoing screening and profiling, after which those found culpable will be charged to court, while others will be released upon clearance.
Residents have been urged to continue providing timely information to assist security agencies in maintaining law and order across the FCT.
